What is Kambo?

Kambo is a fascinating natural substance extracted from the secretion of the giant monkey tree frog, scientifically known as phyllomedusa bicolor. This unique frog hails from the depths of the Amazon rainforest and has a rich history of traditional use by indigenous tribes spanning centuries, and is seen as a gift from Earth to enhance our connection with nature. Traditionally Kambo was used before hunting to enhance endurance and sharpen the senses. It was also used to ward off ‘Panama’ or bad luck, get rid of negativity, treat snake bites, and enhance fertility.

The Kambo I use here at Kambo NI, is bought directly from the Matses tribe in Peru. This allows me to ensure that the Kambo used in my ceremonies is authentic, and has been expertly harvested without harming any frogs. It also allows me to support the Matses tribe who have been so generous by sharing this wonderful medicine with us all.

As a Kambo practitioner with personal experience, I’ve seen how powerful Kambo can be. Applied through small burns on the skin, Kambo triggers a deep cleanse in the body.
